As Eivor works to build and expand a Viking settlement, they become entangled in the ancient struggle between the Assassin Brotherhood, champions of freedom and liberty, and the Templar Order, who seek peace through absolute control. The story is framed by a modern-day narrative featuring Layla Hassan, who relives Eivor’s memories to prevent a global catastrophe.
Gameplay blends action combat, exploration, and role-playing systems across a massive open world that includes England, Norway, and other regions. Players can raid fortresses, forge alliances, customize gear, develop their settlement, and shape Eivor’s journey through meaningful choices. Valhalla emphasizes visceral melee combat, dual-wielding weapons, and large-scale Viking raids that capture the brutality and ambition of Norse conquest.
Released on PlayStation 4 on November 10, 2020, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla received generally positive reviews, with praise for its narrative depth, characters, world design, visuals, music, and voice acting.
